The Mid-Atlantic Sales and Marketing Institute (MASMI) at Salisbury University invites university sales programs to send their best two sales students to compete in the National Shore Sales Challenge. Student competitors from universities across the country compete in a role-play and speed-selling competition across this two-day event on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Activities include great food and a live DJ at the famous Seacrets waterfront restaurant, bar and nightclub in Ocean City, MD.
All student competitors participate in Round 1 of the role-play competition. The top 20 student competitors (top 2 from each of the 10 rooms) advance to Round 2. The 30 semi-finalists (20 from Role-Play Round 1 and 10 from Wild-Card Round*) are divided into 5 rooms and the top 5 students (top student from each of the 5 rooms) advance to the Role-Play Final Round, which will be broadcast live in the Perdue Hall Auditorium on Saturday morning. The following awards will be presented to the Role-Play finalists:
1st place - $1,000
2nd place - $500
3rd place - $300
4th place - $200
5th place - $100
*A Wild-Card Round takes place after Role-Play Round 1 for all students who did not advance to Role-Play Round 2. The Wild-Card Round entails a phone-based, 5-minute, cold-calling scenario. Students are divided into 10 rooms and only the top student from each room advances to Round 2 of the Role-Play competition.
Student competitors and alternates in Speed-Selling Round 1 are randomly assigned to present their 60-second pitch at three different times to three different judges, stationed at booths during the Career Fair. Scores for Round 1 are aggregated and the top 10 students advance to the Speed-Selling Finals. The Speed-Selling Final Round is performed live in the Perdue Hall Auditorium following the Role-Play Final Round. The following awards will be presented to the Speed-Selling finalists:
