SU offers M.Ed. at ESHEC in Wye Mills

SALISBURY, MD ----Educators pursuing a Master of Education (M.Ed.) can now complete Salisbury University's degree program through coursework at the Eastern Shore Higher Education Center (ESHEC) in Wye Mills.

Classes are offered year-round to provide a continuous program leading to the M.Ed. Courses are taught by full-time, tenured faculty from SU's Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies or Salisbury University adjunct faculty.

Although the program is designed primarily for a Master of Education in elementary education, selected courses may help fulfill the requirements for other master's tracks such as Middle/Secondary Education, Post-Secondary Education, Reading Specialist, School Administration, and Teaching and Learning with Technology.

Courses are scheduled in the evening and summer to accommodate the needs of working professionals. The sequence is flexible so students can begin in any term and complete the program in just over three years or at a pace that fits their needs.

Dr. Joan Buffone, currently an assistant superintendent on the Eastern Shore, is the instructor for the spring 2003 offering, Seminar in Curriculum Construction. The semester begins Wednesday, January 29, at 5:30 p.m. Students may register in person at SU or on the first night of class in the new ESHEC building, Room 116.

Dr. Edward C. Robeck is the coordinator for the M.Ed. program at Salisbury University.

"This program at Wye Mills gives educators from Mid- and Upper Shore counties an excellent opportunity to advance their professional development without commuting to Salisbury," Robeck said. "Bringing the M.Ed. program to ESHEC is just one example of SU's commitment to the collaborative trend in education."
