Dennis Senkbeil is the new marching band director for Salisbury University, the first in over four decades. The program's return is expected to provide a new way for students to stay connected. Typically, not all marching band members are music majors, but they enjoy the opportunity to be creative. Senkbeil’s extensive experience and knowledge includes 15 years teaching secondary education band while living in Arizona and receiving a master’s degree in music education. He is pursuing a doctorate in musical arts and wind band conducting. Read More

For more than a quarter-century, college guides have ranked Salisbury University among the nation’s top higher education institutions. The Wall Street Journal and College Pulse concur. For the first time, the nation’s financial newspaper of record and the marketing research firm that calls itself “the voice of college students” have included SU in their joint ranking of “Best Colleges in the U.S.” SU placed No. 343 out of 500 institutions on the list.

Distinguished Faculty Award presentation

A faculty member in Salisbury University’s College of Health and Human Services since 2016, Dr. Deneen Long-White has long been lauded for her excellence in teaching, professional development and service. The associate professor of public health in the School of Health Sciences boasts a number of titles and positions on campus, including interim Public Health Program director and immediate past president of the Faculty Senate. Now, she can add a new title to that list: 2024 recipient of the University’s prestigious Distinguished Faculty Award.

WMDT: Resources for Local Children Include Wicomico Public Library Homework Help Center, Taught by SU Student Volunteer

“The whole point of homework is to reinforce what you learn in school. To give it like a second chance to sort of sink in,” said Karen Earp, Youth Services Manager for the Wicomico County Public Library. The library offers resources for children, including a Homework Help Center for K-12, taught by a Salisbury University student who wanted to give back to the community. “We’ve got a dedicated volunteer that manages this little space here," she said. "He can help with anything- math, reading, science -- it doesn’t matter. He’s prepared to help.” Read More

Salisbury Independent: SU Looks Forward to New Academic Year

SU Class of 2028
Salisbury University continues to evolve nearly 100 years after 105 students eagerly stepped inside Holloway Hall to experience college life for the first time. The University has not only changed its name several times since then but continues to expand its number of students, academic programming and its physical footprint in the city of Salisbury. This fall semester started with 1,470 students attending classes on the 215-acre campus for the first time, a near record for the school. Read More

SBY Business Journal: Blackwell Hall Renovations Begin at SU

As Salisbury University starts its fall semester, renovations to Blackwell Hall have begun. Parking Lot F, on Camden Avenue behind Blackwell Hall, will remain closed for the duration of the construction, scheduled to conclude in fall 2026. Currently, Holloway Hall Lawn also is unavailable for activities due to the drilling of geothermal wells to serve the renovated Blackwell Hall. The lawn’s surface will be returned to its natural state following this process. Trees will be planted on other areas of campus to replace those removed as part of the renovation. Read More
