SU Alumna Honored by MD/DC Society for Respiratory Care

Paige Pritchard (second from right)SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University alumna Paige Pritchard ’16 recently was honored by the Maryland/District of Columbia Society for Respiratory Care.

She was named 2017 Rookie Therapist of the Year at the society’s annual award and board installation meeting.

Pritchard earned a bachelor’s in respiratory therapy from SU in 2016. Currently, she is a critical care therapist working mainly in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) in Baltimore.

“Salisbury University’s Respiratory Therapy Program gave me a great foundation to start my career,” Pritchard said. “The program provided me with basic skills as well as three different certifications (Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support) to work with a variety of patients.  Working at UMMC has allowed me to put that knowledge to use in multiple intensive, intermediate and general care floors. I look forward to continue to build off of what Salisbury and UMMC have provided me with this far.”

SU’s respiratory therapy program is among the nation’s top producers of baccalaureate-prepared graduates in the nation, according to data from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. SU offers Maryland’s only baccalaureate in respiratory therapy.
