SALISBURY, MD---How can art represent innovation?

That’s the question winners of the Innovate Walls Mural competition, hosted by Salisbury University’s Dave and Patsy Rommel Center for Entrepreneurship answered with their selected entries.

“Flowers of Life” by Nicholas Tindall earned first place. His artwork will be featured on the largest of two walls at the center dedicated for the competition. He also received $1,200 and additional funds for art supplies.

Tindall’s winning entry relates to the theme of innovation by showcasing the basic building blocks of math and geometry from which many of inventions and innovations originate.

The competition’s $800 second-place prize went to “Clear Vision” by Corey Houlihan. Her mural will be featured on the second wall dedicated for the competition. She also received additional funds for art supplies.

Houlihan’s work is relevant to innovation through a presentation of lenses with collages of inventions and innovations representing an innovator’s ability to envision something amidst the chaos of life’s day-to-day ordinariness.

“The designs will not only adorn the walls of the Rommel Center with vibrant and thought-provoking murals but will also underscore the profound connection between creativity and entrepreneurship,” said Bryan Bourdeau, assistant director of the center.

The collaborative initiative, in partnership with SU Art Galleries and the City of Salisbury Arts, Business and Culture Department, aimed to transform two of the center's walls into dynamic canvases that exemplify the fusion of art and innovation.

The unique platform will allow the winning artists to showcase their talents and contribute to the center’s vibrant atmosphere. The Rommel Center will host a public mural unveiling once the artwork is complete.
