SU's M.S. in GIS Management Earns AAG Program Excellence Award

GIS staffSALISBURY, MD---The American Association of Geographers (AAG) recently recognized Salisbury University’s M.S. in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Management with the 2022 Program Excellence Award in the master’s program category. 

SU was selected for “its strength in innovation to address the needs of the profession and the training of students that is forward thinking and providing both students and potential future employers with a form of co-education and training that is remarkable.” 

“It’s an honor for our program to be recognized by such a renowned institution,” said Dr. Arthur Lembo, professor of geography and geosciences. “Our faculty dedicate themselves to ensure our students, many who are working professionals, have the resources necessary to excel further in their careers as administrators in geographic information systems while learning in a practical, hands-on educational environment.”

The program also was lauded for “achieving a platform to enable online and in-person degree formats, focusing on professional development as the core value.”

Awards were presented at the AAG Annual Meeting, and recipients received a $2,000 prize and certificate of recognition.
