'U.S. News' Names SU Among Nation's Best Graduate Education Schools

SU education student working with elementary school studentsSALISBURY, MD---U.S. News & World Report has named Salisbury University's graduate education programs among the nation’s best.

The publication placed SU’s Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel School of Education at No. 205 on its 2021 list of Best Graduate Education Schools in the U.S.

U.S. News based its rankings on research activity, the academic excellence of entering students, faculty resources, and opinions on program quality from education school deans and school hiring professionals.

“We consistently hear from school systems throughout the state and region that our graduates are among the best prepared for entering the classroom as teachers, as well as taking on supervisory and administrative leadership roles as they further their careers,” said Dr. Laurie Henry, dean of the Seidel School. “This ranking adds to that external validation that SU provides high-quality, high-value programs for current and future education professionals.”

SU offers four M.Ed. programs (curriculum and instruction, curriculum and instruction – post-secondary, educational leadership and reading specialist), three certificate programs (post-baccalaureate in higher education, post-master in educational leadership, and post-master in advanced study in educational leadership) and an Ed.D. in contemporary curriculum theory and instruction: literacy.

This is the latest of several top rankings U.S. News has bestowed upon SU during the 2020-21 academic year.

Last fall, the publication placed SU at No. 67 out of 176 public and private U.S. institutions in the “Best Regional Universities – North” category and No. 16 among public institutions in that region. The University also was named among the publication’s “Best Value Schools,” “A-Plus Schools for B Students” and “Best Colleges for Veterans.”

Earlier this year, U.S. News ranked SU’s online M.B.A. and Nursing programs among the nation’s best, placing both at No. 126 in their respective categories.
