SALISBURY, MD---Due to the global impact of COVID-19, few college and university students will get to study abroad this summer.

For two Salisbury University students, the world is coming to them instead, courtesy of the World Trade Center Institute.

The Baltimore-based organization has selected junior conflict analysis and dispute resolution major Erin Karrh of Centreville, MD; and sophomore urban and regional planning major Aaron Stiegler of Salisbury among its 2020 Albrecht Fellows.

Through the Albrecht Fellowships program, students prepare to engage in the world while enhancing the competitiveness of Maryland’s economy.

“I applied to this program to gain connections and experience in an internationally-focused environment,” said Karrh.

Stiegler echoed those aspirations: “The Global Pathways program ... supports the international components of my undergraduate studies and potentially my post-graduate career.”

As Albrecht Fellows, they will participate in the institute’s Global Pathways Program for Students, scheduled May 27-June 5. The initiative, scheduled as a virtual event this year due to COVID-19, introduces a select group of university students from Maryland to leading global companies in the state.

Participants will meet with industry leaders at corporations with global reach including Ciena Corporation, McCormack & Company, WorldAware, Stanley Black & Decker, Intero Advisory and others.
