SU Honors All Faculty and Staff as Employees of the Month

Employee of the Month graphicSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Employee of the Month Selection Committee often has a difficult time choosing between each month’s nominees.

This month, the decision proved impossible.

In recognition of the hard work of SU’s 1,800-plus employees as University operations changed to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the committee has designated all faculty and staff as Employees of the Month for May.

“COVID-19 created unprecedented change throughout much of the spring semester, but SU’s employees rose to those challenges to continue serving our students while also addressing many needs of our greater community,” said SU President Charles Wight. “I couldn’t be prouder of their dedication and commitment to this University.”

“What started as another busy spring semester quickly morphed into one of the most challenging work experiences many of us have faced,” said Dr. Karen Olmstead, provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. “I want to extend my most heartfelt appreciation to all of our faculty and staff for keeping our students engaged, learning, and progressing throughout this difficult time.”

Dr. Dane Foust, vice president of student affairs, added that the “responsiveness, care and concern” of SU’s staff “truly epitomize what it means when we say ‘SU cares.’”

“When faced with this pandemic, the response by the campus was truly impressive,” said Dr. Marvin Pyles, vice president of administration and finance. “It highlighted the resourcefulness, collaborative spirit and passion that fuels our community – and yet again proved that the strength and success of SU is rooted in our tremendous faculty and staff.”

“Every single employee at SU deserves this recognition,” said Jason Curtin, vice president of University advancement and external affairs. “From our essential employees still on campus who are keeping things running, safe and maintained to our faculty and staff who adapted to teleworking and teaching online, I’ve been so impressed with our campus community.”
