Requirements for Admission – Perdue School of Business Professional Programs
To help you set your success in motion at SU, we want to share the process to prepare for, apply to and be accepted into the Perdue School’s Professional Programs.
Students seeking a Bachelor of Science with a major in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Business Economics or International Business are admitted to SU as pre-professional business students. These programs are “gated,” which means you need to meet certain requirements in order to take upper-division business courses and gain entry into the Professional Programs. (This does not apply to students seeking a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.)
Admissions Procedure:
- Complete at least 40 credit hours including General Education requirements.
- Within the pre-professional business courses (see below), you must have completed at least 8 courses, 4 of which must be: BUAD 200, MATH 155 or MATH 160 or 201, ACCT 201, and ECON 211 or 212.
- Pre-professional business courses may be repeated one time only and any repeated courses must be successfully completed at SU. Students who repeat a course more than once will not be admitted to the Professional Program.
- Major specific requirements:
- Students applying for the Business Economics major must receive grades of C or better in all pre-professional business courses with a pre-professional GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Students applying for the Accounting major must receive grades of C or better in ACCT 201, ACCT 202 and ACCT 248, and grades of D or better in the other pre-professional courses with a pre-professional GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Students applying for the Finance, Information Systems, International Business, Management, or Marketing majors must receive grades of D or better in all pre-professional business courses with a pre-professional GPA of 2.5 or higher.
