Student Commencement Speaker Application
Salisbury University is seeking nominations from faculty for the student speaker at its upcoming commencement. Nominations will be accepted for degree candidates at the upcoming commencement who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The selected speaker will give a speech (typically 5 minutes) highlighting their SU educational experience and the value of the education they received from SU.
Application Deadline and Submission Process:
Nomination packets for student speakers for commencement must be received by Friday, March 20, 2026 by 11:59pm.
Only students with completed packets will be considered. Select nominees will be invited to audition the week of March 23rd. The selected candidate(s) will be notified of the outcome of the process by mid-April.
Completed nomination packets should be submitted by the appropriate deadline via email: commencementspeaker@salisbury.edu
Checklist of Application Requirements:
The following materials must be included in all Student Commencement Speaker Nomination packets. Please check the items off as you put them into the application packet verifying completion. The selection committee will not consider incomplete applications.
On the Student Commencement Speaker Application:
- Salisbury University Student Commencement Speaker Nomination (Section 1 on the application).
- Student Commencement Speaker Application Form (Section 2 on the application).

- Letter(s) of nomination from faculty member(s)- include details about the student's civic involvement, scholarly achievements, and awards (Send via email).
- Current resume/vitae of nominee (Send via email).
- Draft of speech (Send via email).
