CS student Bowers, Dugan, Presley and Montebell and win Best Hack at Bitcamp 2024

A team of CS students: Brian Bowers, Isaac Dugan, Spencer Presley and James Montebell participated Bitcamp 2024 and won the Best Hack category at Bitcamp on April 19-21, 2024.

Bitcamp 2024

There was a great turnout of Salisbury University computer science students besides the students in the above team.

Our computer science students have demonstrated again and again that they are extremely competitive among students from other schools. There is no doubt that they are well-prepared to take on any real-world challenges when the graduate!
11th Annual GullCode Programming Competition

CS department hosted a JP Morgan Recruitment Information on April 10, 2024. The presenter is Ryan Rosiak (Class of 2022). He is currently a fulltime Software Engineer at JP Morgan.

Stephora Cesar-Alberi (Junior, Computer Science), and Andersen Herman (Junior, Chemistry, Honors) presented their IRB-approved road safety survey data to the Salisbury's City Council.

Stephora Cesar-Alberi (Junior, Computer Science), and Andersen Herman (Junior, Chemistry, Honors) presented their IRB-approved road safety survey data to the Salisbury's City Council. This community research was conducted in collaboration with the City of Salisbury’s Department of Transportation on behalf of Vision Zero to research road safety on the west side of Salisbury. Ryan Weaver (PACE, Interdisciplinary Studies), Presidential Citizen Scholars LaMaree James (Senior, Environmental Studies) are the project directors.

3rd annual Eastern Shore High School Computer Programming Competition

Computer Science (CS) Department hosted 3rd annual Eastern Shore High School Computer Programming Competition. There are 7 schools from all over the Eastern Shore with 19 total students participated in the competition.

Computer Science major Alex Mekovsky will present his 2023 NSF REU EXERCISE project at 116th Annual Meeting of the National Shellfisheries Association taking place between March 17 and March 21. The title of his project is “Machine Learning and Computer Vision Techniques to Identify and Monitor Ostreidae Nondisruptively”. Dr. Enyue (Annie) Lu is his research mentor. Alex worked on the project along with two other REU students.

Joshua Comfort delivers Lightning Talk at IEEE MIT Undergraduate Research Technology Conference

OCTOBER 6-8, 2023
Computer Science recent graduate Joshua Comfort delivered a Lightning Talk titled “PCA-Based Efficient CNN Model Construction for ASL Recognition” at 2023 IEEE MIT Undergraduate Research Technology Conference (October 6 - 8). This research project was conducted in Spring 2023 at Salisbury University. His research advisor is Dr. Shuangquan (Peter) Wang. The project was funded by NSF Award No. 1947484 of which Dr. Xiaohong (Sophie) Wang is the PI.
