Dr. Memo Diriker, Director
Dr. Memo Diriker is the founder and director of BEACON. Dr. Diriker has served as the principal investigator of over 500 grants and sponsored research projects, totaling over $16 Million in external awards. In addition to a book he co-authored, Dr. Diriker has authored or co-authored many articles in academic and practitioner publications and is a popular speaker at many regional, national and international events.
Dr. Diriker currently serves on the boards of Leadership Maryland, Inc. (chair), Maryland Chamber of Commerce Foundation (immediate-past chair), Network of International Business Schools (vice-president), Peninsula Regional Medical Center (chair), Peninsula Regional Health System, Peninsula Ventures, Inc. and Shore Hatchery. His previous board memberships include United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore (vice-president), Pac-14, and Diakonia, Inc. Dr. Diriker is a past president of the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club and of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as the president of the American Marketing Association (AMA) in Boston.
Dr. Diriker is the recipient of many honors and awards, including an Influential Marylander Award, a Distinguished Faculty Member Award, a Diversity Award, a Visionary Award, the Jim Barrett Community Leadership Award, an Outstanding Public Health Leader Award, a Heart of United Way Award and a University System of Maryland Board of Regents Award for Outstanding Public Service.
Dr. Sarah Guy, Associate Director
Dr. Sarah Guy is the associate director BEACON. Sarah holds a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore as well as an M.B.A., a B.Sc. in marketing and a B.Sc. in management from Salisbury University. Dr. Guy is a scenario analysis/scenario planning specialist using iDecide and is an economic impact estimation specialist using IMPLAN.
Dr. Guy is a graduate of Leadership Maryland Class of 2016 and a member of the Shore Leadership Class of 2019. She is a past chair of the board for Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore. In addition, she serves on the Perdue School of Business Career Advisory Board and the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club. Dr. Guy was selected as Salisbury Sunrise Rotarian of the Year for 2015-2016, the winner of the Daily Records’ 20 in Their Twenties Award (2014) and the winner of the Daily Record’s Leading Women Award (2018).
