Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Wicomico County and Surrounding Areas December 5
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Wicomico County and surrounding areas from 1 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, December 5. Snow accumulation up to an inch and a half is forecast. Snow is expected mainly after 5 a.m., interspersed with periods of rain later in the day. At this time, campus is expected to remain open. BEACON is currently seeking candidates for a Business Honors Research Fellowship for academic year 2025-26. The Business, Economic, and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) is the applied research and consulting arm of the Perdue School of Business.
The Business Honors Research Fellow will work on sponsored research projects for regional clients from the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Examples of BEACON projects include feasibility studies, marketing audits and plans, strategic plans, resource allocation modeling, economic impact models, program evaluations, and web-based surveys.
BEACON seeks high-caliber applicants with the following skills and characteristics:

Self-motivated and able to work independently
Effective team player
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced computer skills; knowledge of additional software is a plus.
The BEACON Business Honors Fellow will have opportunities to interact with leaders from a wide range of industries and network at events throughout Maryland.
This is a paid position and available only for Honors College students. The position is for a minimum ten (10) hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours. Students will also be eligible for winter semester and summer work. This position provides excellent opportunities for the hands-on application of your classroom learning.

BEACON graduate assistantship provide students with the opportunity to expand their work experience while completing their graduate studies. Graduate assistants are required to work 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, during which they receive both a stipend and tuition remission (for up to 18 credit hours per academic year). They also have the opportunity to work during the summer semester and winter semester for a competitive hourly rate. Graduate assistants will be assigned to one or more of BEACON’s ongoing grants and sponsored research projects, and/or to one of the five BEACON initiatives. Graduate assistants will have at least one project for which they are the team leader. They will be required to engage in project management and team management tasks, conduct primary and secondary research, become proficient in at least two of the advanced software platforms used by BEACON, be responsible for all computational analysis for the projects they are assigned, generate reports, meet with clients, and make client and public presentations.

These positions are hourly positions that require a minimum of 15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters with the opportunity to work during the summer and winter semesters. Graduate research associates will be assigned to one or more of BEACON’s ongoing grants and sponsored research projects, and/or to one of the five BEACON initiatives. Graduate Assistants will have at least one project for which they are the team leader. Undergraduate research assistant positions offer students the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of projects. These positions are hourly positions that require a minimum of 15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters with the opportunity to work during the summer and winter semesters. Undergraduate research assistants will be assigned to one or more of BEACON’s ongoing grants and sponsored research projects and will be required to conduct primary and secondary research, assist with computational analysis, generate reports, and client deliverables. Undergraduate Research Assistants will have the opportunity to assist with client meetings and presentations.
BEACON internships offer undergraduate students the opportunity to fulfill their ABLE internship requirements while working on real-world client projects and research. Internships require a minimum of 10 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks and are offered over the spring and fall semesters as well as the summer. Internship availability is based on the project portfolio for the identified semester. Internships that are most often available are in the fields of: Marketing, Management, Economics and Information Systems.
