Sophanes Presents 'A Pair of Plays' April 24-May 4

SALISBURY, MD---Sophanes, Salisbury University’s student theatre club, explores the perils of womanhood during “A Pair of Plays” Thursday-Sunday, April 24-27 and May 1-4.

Students in the organization direct, design and perform in two one-act plays: Charles L. Mee’s Big Love and Christopher Durang’s The Nature and Purpose of the Universe. Curtain is 8 p.m., 2 p.m. Sundays.

Big Love, directed by Camilla Morrison, is based on Aeschylus's The Supplicants. It follows 50 brides who run away to avoid marrying their 50 cousins while they deal with and discuss gender politics, love, and domestic violence.

The cast includes Rachel Barret, Lawrence Ryan, Hank Brannock, Stephanie Dargan, Jessica Rivera-Pratts, Brian Hoyle, Roland Lane, Justin Campbell, Selena Baker, Paul Richardson and Megan Murray. Shanice Jones and Kelsey Wesenberg stage manage.

The Nature and Purpose of the Universe, directed by Zachary Coffman, is about a housewife, Eleanor Mann, who lives a miserable life.
