'Safe Spaces' Workshop Signup Deadline Apr. 4

Defying DefinitionsSALISBURY, MD---ShoreCorps/PALS (Partnership for Adolescents on the Lower Shore), the AmeriCorps program at Salisbury University, hosts the workshop “Creating Safe Spaces: School, Work and Community” 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Scarborough Student Leadership Center.

The event is designed to help reduce the often hostile environments lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals navigate in their daily lives, from classroom bullying to unintentional exclusion by use of certain language.

SU facilitators lead the workshop, engaging participants in activities to enrich and expand their experiences. Light refreshments will be served.

Seating is limited to 40 people. First priority will be given to ShoreCorps/PALS members and site supervisors. Additional seats will be filled via RSVP on a first-come, first-served basis. Those attending will need to print a campus parking pass, available at www.salisbury.edu/police/visitor_parking.

The workshop is made possible through a grant from the Maryland Humanities Council’s Defying Definitions Program. The RSVP deadline is Friday, April 4.
