SALISBURY, MD---When it comes to making sales, students in Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business are winners — some of them literally.

Some 56 students recently vied for top honors during the SU Mid-Atlantic Sales and Marketing Institute’s second biannual sales championship competition. The event included two contests, one for overall sales and one for elevator pitches.

Marketing major Kody Skype of Chatham, NY, received $1,000 for his first-place finish in the overall sales competition. Runners-up included management and marketing major Allen Reynolds of Smithsburg, MD, in second place; marketing and information systems major Alex Murri of Sykesville, MD, in third; and marketing major Nolan Smith of West Caldwell, NJ, in fourth.

Finance major Seth Williams of Denton, MD, topped his competitors in the elevator pitch session, taking home a $100 prize. He was followed by marketing majors Katharine Davis of Ijamsville, MD, in second and Devin Conroy of Phoenix, MD, in third.

Winners were decided by some 45 judges, buyers and observers representing MASMI sponsors and local businesses. The event followed an “etiquette dinner” for the students and corporate partners, also hosted by the institute.

Sponsors included Choptank Transport; Perdue Farms; Shore Bancshares; Tom James; Northwestern Mutual; Enterprise Rent-A-Car; APPI Energy; Risk Placement Services, Inc.; Pohanka of Salisbury; Gartner; New Day USA; Wedding Wire; and Sports Office 365.
