SU Says 'Farewell' to 11 Retiring Faculty and Staff

SALISBURY, MD---Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. – William Butler Yeats At the end of this semester, Salisbury University says farewell to 11 retiring faculty and staff who helped light that fire for thousands of students throughout the years. Together, they represent more than 267 years of combined service. They are: Kent Kimmel, associate provost - 37 years Augustine DiGiovanna, Biology Department – 33 years Lois Bromley, Blackwell Library – 31 years Barry King, assistant vice president for student affairs – 30 years James Phillips, chief of University Police – 30 years John Fields, assistant vice president for student affairs – 28 ½ years Carol Williamson, vice president for student affairs – 26 years George Rubenson, Management and Marketing Department - 18 years Frank Darcy, driver, Motorpool – 15 ½ years Lee Townshend, advising services coordinator, Perdue School – 13 years Joseph Quinn, Accounting and Legal Studies Department – 5 ½ years In April, SU also said good-bye to retiree Johanna Schamehorn of the Bookstore.
