Guerrieri University Center Art Space Hosts Photography Exhibit 'Blue Print' November 3-30

University Center Art Space logoSALISBURY, MD---The Guerrieri University Center Art Space hosts the photography exhibit “Blue Print” by Salisbury University alumna Erica Lehner from November 3-30.

The Guerrieri University Center Art Award, SU President’s Award and Alumni Award winner has exhibited through SU and the Rehoboth Art League. Currently, she is interning with Baltimore fashion photographer Roy Cox.

“Ever since I was young, I have always been fascinated by nature,” she said. “The simplistic, yet not so simple characteristics that make nature what it is seem to be what I have always been drawn to.

“The feeling that nature is beautiful, just as it is, with no need to alter it became my main attraction. Instead of embracing natural beauty, humans struggle with the superficial standards in today's world. I strongly believe that inner peace and what a person has to offer is what makes them a beautiful person.

“I have always been attracted to the versatility of alternative processes in photography. I use processes that to some may seem irrelevant to use in today’s digital world. To me, it is the technique of producing the art that makes the product that much more valuable. Whereas any person can shoot photography simply with a cellphone, I focus on more complicated processes that were used in the late 1800s that involve more care and attention.

“Through my work, I wish to help viewers who struggle with appearance to realize that inner traits are what make a person beautifully human. Body alterations should not be the way of the world, as can be demonstrated through the attractiveness of nature. Nature has a way of staying beautiful with no alterations, which we as humans should try to emulate.”

The Art Space is located in the Guerrieri Center’s second-floor concourse. Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6247 or visit the Art Space website at http://www.salisbury.edu/guc/artspace.
