Felipe Luciano Lecture Rescheduled November 4

SALISBURY, MD---From founding the Young Lords political party in the 1960s to becoming the first Puerto Rican news anchor on a network broadcast, Felipe Luciano has dedicated his life to breaking barriers in politics, society and culture.

SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach introduces the community activist and media personality as he speaks about his experiences at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. His lecture was rescheduled from Wednesday, October 8.

A native of a culturally diverse New York neighborhood, Luciano is president and founder of Luciano Productions Inc., through which he has earned two Emmy Awards, an Award for Cable Excellence (ACE) and a Silurian Award. He has served on the New York City Mayor’s Task Force on Police and Community Relations and has worked in television as co-host of FOX’s Good Day Street Talk. He also has regularly served as a featured journalist for New York area publications including the New York Times and New York Daily News.

With an extensive knowledge in Spanish and African-American entertainment, Luciano has also found success in the area of Spoken Word poetry and continues his creative work in Latin music with Topijazz and RMM Records.

He has predicted and created changing trends and tastes in the industry and related markets. His extensive knowledge of the inner business workings of mainstream Spanish and African-American entertainment venues serves as a reservoir of information from which he can draw.

“Failure is not an option,” he said. “Rather than accept it as an impediment, you should derive inspiration and motivation from the fact that something hasn’t been done before. The success of my career comes from reaching new and emerging markets by being goal-oriented and process driven. Clearly identify what you want to achieve and navigate the road to its achievement by learning from history’s lessons.”

He balances his responsibilities as a father of three with his corporate duties and time as a lecturer for Fortune 500 companies, colleges and universities.
