58th Biannual Senior Art Exhibitions April 30-May 12 and May 7-19

Art DepartmentSALISBURY, MD---Some 29 graduating art students showcase their works during Salisbury University’s 58th biannual Senior Exhibition, “Chroma.”

For the first time, the fine arts portion of the show will be located at the SU Art Gallery Downtown (SUAGD), 212 W. Main St., Salisbury, from April 30-May 12. A reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 4. The exhibit showcases 2-D and 3-D works by 15 students, including Alec Aita and Marghi Barnes, who display site-specific installations.

The graphic design portion of the show is scheduled May 7-19 in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall. A reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 11. The exhibit features the works of 14 students who go beyond the standard format to explore graphic design’s incorporation into various mediums.

SU alumnus John Kerr, web developer, designer and graphic artist at JKerr Designs, judges the exhibit.

The shows are part of the Senior Exhibition course taught by Professor Jinchul Kim. The goal of the class is to summarize the students’ art experiences at SU by having them lead the planning and execution of a professional art exhibit.

At the shows, each student uses a portion of the galleries to display their work, which is based on their specific art track and encompasses an overarching theme of their choice. During the awards receptions, the artists present their portfolios, resumes and business cards.

SUAGD hours are noon-6 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, noon-4 p.m. Friday-Saturday. University Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, noon-4 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

Sponsored by the Art Department and Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, admission is free and the public is invited.
