SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University has again been named among the nation’s top four-year colleges in The Princeton Review’s 2027 edition of The Best 392 Colleges.
The guide features comments from students who describe SU as having “a lot of freedom to work things out” independently. Students were excited about outdoor classes, “team-based learning,” the ability to use “augmented reality to give a presentation virtually,” and “really strong study abroad [programs] for lots of different majors.”
One student, with a learning difference, noted that “teachers are very respectful of my disorder and provide me [with] what I need to succeed.”
Students are quick to celebrate their peers as “a super diverse and awesome student body with people from all walks of life. We’ve got artists, musicians, and more.” Students enjoy being welcomed with open arms, noting the student body is “open to help and make connections,” as well as being “welcoming and supportive,” and, in short, among “the best people I have met.”
“Salisbury University is a place where students are supported and encouraged to discover all that they are capable of becoming,” said SU President Carolyn Ringer Lepre. “What makes this recognition from The Princeton Review especially meaningful is hearing that spirit reflected in the words of our students. They see a community that welcomes them, faculty and staff who care about their success, and opportunities that allow them to learn, grow and find their place. We are incredibly proud of the experience we create together at SU, and are deeply grateful to our students for sharing what makes this community so special.”
Among students’ reviews of SU’s campus life, they spoke highly of the University’s multiple dining locations and variety of food offered, as well as activities available outside of the classroom.
SU’s athletic success both on a varsity level and for those looking to participate recreationally is an SU hallmark, leading one student to comment that “people are always playing outside or going to the gym.”
For those not excited to get on the field, “there is a club or group for everyone and anyone. It is very inclusive,” said one student. Others raved about SU’s event programming, along with the club options.
On the academic side, students were excited about the nursing program and the biology department that is “quite extensive in ... labs and research studies,” as well as the education program that offers opportunities to engage with the local community schools. Students also raved about SU’s Glenda Chatham and Robert G. Clarke Honors College, leading one student to comment it “gave me opportunities to be more personal with what I study and write about.”
In addition, The Princeton Review named SU one of its “Best Mid-Atlantic Colleges,” one of its “Best Value Colleges,” and ranked No. 39 on the list of the “Top 50 Green Colleges.” In fact, being named among Princeton Review’s “Green Colleges” is an honor SU has earned each year since the organization first offered it in 2010.
SU also recently was named to Money magazine’s “Best Colleges” list, one of 735 in the nation to receive the accolade, based on 25 metrics, including graduation rates, costs, financial aid, student debt, and alumni salaries. SU received four stars on Money’s five-star rating.
