SU Hosts Virtual Spring Commencement Ceremonies and In-Person Activities May 13-16

graduates in regaliaSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University hosts its annual Spring Commencement with virtual and in-person activities Thursday-Sunday, May 13-16.

SU commemorates the successes of over 1,500 members of the Class of 2021 during six virtual ceremonies. Spring in-person ceremonies were canceled due to statewide restrictions to help slow the spread of COVID-19. 

Undergraduate and graduate ceremonies will include speaker remarks, campus photos and conferral of degrees by SU President Charles Wight. A slide show with custom slides for every graduate, including an audio clip of their announced name, will be included at the end of each virtual ceremony. Slides will be available for download to share on social media. 

The virtual commencement ceremonies will be available for viewing beginning 6 p.m. Friday, May 14, for doctoral and master’s degree recipients and 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, for bachelor’s degree recipients.

New this year, graduates have the opportunity to participate in an in-person Grad Walk at Sea Gull Stadium, Thursday-Sunday May 13-16 (rain location: Maggs Gym). In this walk-through event with limited guests, professional photographers will take formal photos as graduates have their name read while crossing the Commencement stage and receiving their SU diploma covers. The Grad Walk will be livestreamed on the SU website for family and friends who are unable to attend the event in person.

Campus community members, family and friends can submit their well wishes on the 2021 SU graduate Kudoboard, which will feature messages throughout May. 

Among undergraduates, 1,278 students receive the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts. Some 238 receive master’s degrees. Nine receive doctoral degrees.
