SU Offers Virtual Art Events

SALISBURY, MD---While there is no substitute for being in the presence of a work of art, taking in the nuances of the artist’s vision, Salisbury University is still making inspiring pieces accessible during this time of self-confinement.

The SU Art Senior Show will go on, in a virtual setting this spring, while SU Art Galleries (SUAG) offers virtual tours of its current art exhibits.

The Art Senior Show is traditionally the capstone project for soon-to-be graduates, with their pieces displayed in SU’s art galleries. Seniors still will be able to show their art to the world through an online exhibit on Instagram and Facebook. The show, “Nexus,” premieres 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 8. At that time, students will post their work on the social media sites with the hashtag “#artthatconnectsus.” The group can also be followed on Instagram

The group sees its tagline, "Art That Connects Us", has taken on new significance in the age of self-isolation and social distancing, stating that unity through art is more important than ever.?

SUAG, which has exhibits displayed in the University Gallery and Downtown Gallery, is offering virtual tours of “Habitat” and “Latinexodus,” as well as more in-depth looks at some of the artists featured in those exhibits.

The virtual tours are available through the SUAG Facebook page or Instagram page.
