SU Workshop Explores Social Media Habits and Politics

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Adventures in Ideas: Humanities Seminar Series continues with “Fake News, Facebook, Bots and Memes: Politics and the Use of Social Media in the 21st Century” 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, February 29, in Conway Hall Room 179.

Drs. Jennifer Cox of the Communication Department and Adam Hoffman of the Political Science Department discuss the way the internet and social media have changed almost every aspect of everyday life and the political world in the past 10 years.

Through a series of activities and discussions, attendees explore how campaigns use micro-targeting by linking online behavior with persuasive messaging and the impact of social media on news consumption and information gathering. They then evaluate their own social media habits and digital footprint.

Sponsored by the Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts and the Whaley Family Foundation, cost is $30, including continental breakfast and lunch. The public is invited. Advance reservations are required.
