SU Theatre Presents ‘By the Way, Meet Vera Stark’

woman smoking cigaretteSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Bobbi Biron Theatre Program presents By the Way, Meet Vera Stark Thursday-Sunday, November 21-24, in the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall.

Directed by Robert Smith, curtain is 7:30 p.m., 2 p.m. Sunday.

While working as a maid for an aging starlet, an African American actress attempts to break into 1930s Hollywood. Seventy years later, her ground-breaking film and controversial career are re-discovered by academics seeking the spotlight.

The cast includes Imari Pyles as Vera Stark and Kate Carpenter as Gloria Mitchell. Additional cast members are Jay Copeland, Natasha Hawkins, Josh Miller, Destiny Mosley and Mike Mott.

Costume design is by Leslie Yarmo. Scenic design is by John Raley. Lighting design is by Michael Cunningham. Sound design is by Grace Fitzpatrick. Projections design is by David Gladden. Katie Hopwood stage manages, with Skyler Vann as assistant stage manager.

Sponsored by the Music, Theatre and Dance Department, admission is $10; $7 for seniors age 62-plus and SU faculty, staff and alumni; $5 for non-SU students; $3 for SU students with Gull Card.

Advance tickets are available online. Those coming from off campus are required to display a visitor parking pass, which may be requested at the Parking Services website.
