Classes Begin August 31 -- SSU's Largest Freshman Class Ever

SALISBURY, MD--Classes for the 1998-99 academic year at Salisbury State university begin Monday, August 31. Freshmen and transfer students begin moving into campus residence halls on Saturday, August 29; upperclassmen follow the next day.

The University anticipates a student body of some 6,000, including 5,400 undergraduate students. SSUs enrollment have held steady at 6,000 for the past four years. This years freshman class numbering 920, the largest in University history, features four National Merit Scholars, an SSU first, and nine high school valedictorians and five salutatorians.

Salisbury State was recently recognized by a pair of national publications: U.S. News & World Report ranked SSU in its Top 10 for Regional Public Universities in the North for the second year in a row; and Kiplingers Personal Finance magazine rated SSU in the top 10 percent among 600 public universities in the nation.
