Ryan Habermeyer

Research Interests

My specialty is in creative writing with an emphasis in fiction and experimental prose narrative. I am the author of the novel Necronauts and the short story collections Salt Folk and The Science of Lost Futures. My scholarly research focuses on transnational fairy tales, world mythology, the cultural history of the monstrous and grotesque, and the intersections of folklore with global conspiracy theory. As a Fulbright Scholar who has lived, taught, and studied in Poland, Scotland, Spain, Mexico, and Romania, I frequently lead study abroad programs at SU. I welcome any and all discussions on that which is weird, bizarre, strange, otherworldly, cryptic, absurd, satirical, spectral, uncanny or otherwise inexplicable.
