Orientation Checklist – Students Starting Spring 2023

• Starting in November 2022 you will be able to complete your Orientation Registration & Survey. Completing your Registration Survey will assist your Academic Advisor in creating your first semester schedule. You will receive an email to the personal email address SU has on file when you can access the registration and survey information.

• Orientation Registration & Survey will become available in November. Students will receive email communication when it is live. Students will register through their Admissions Status Portal when it is available.

• Once you submit your orientation registration and survey, you will receive a registration confirmation email containing the information you need to attend your virtual Sea Gull Start-Up Session in January 2023

The New Student Guide

Make sure you are staying up to date with your Admissions Status Portal. Your portal will be updated regularly with many new things for you to do and complete. Some of these include completing your required training before the start of the semester.

• As part of completing your orientation survey and registering for Orientation, students will select a date to attend a Sea Gull Start-Up session. Academic Advising Team members and Orientation Staff members will guide new students and families through an informative session and will make sure all of your questions can be answered.

• Unable to make the date you registered for? Go ahead and log back into your Admissions Status Portal ( gogulls.salisbury.edu/status) and select another available date.

• January 2022 – Please note: Sea Gull Start-Up will be held in the afternoon of Friday, January 27th. Additional orientation programming will take place throughout the weekend before classes begin on Monday, January 30th.

• Beginning in January, you will be added to your Sea Gull Start-Up Online Modules through MyClasses, SU’s online learning platform. Your Sea Gull Start-Up Online modules include five modules that allow for students to learn more about a variety of aspects of SU’s campus life, including housing/residence life, health and wellness services; academic support and managing the finances of your SU education. Students are expected to complete all the modules and pass all the quizzes associated with the modules.

• The modules may be accessed through the MyClasses learning platform using your SU username and password to log in on a desktop or mobile device via the link below.

MyClasses

• Once logged into MyClasses, students will select the “Sea Gull Start-Up Spring 2022” course box and complete their required online modules on academic advising, campus life, financial aid, and other relevant topics, including a brief overview of their respective academic school. The modules will take approximately 1/2 hours to complete in all, though students may work through the modules over several saved sessions.
• There are 4 additional required training courses that all new students must complete. We expect these trainings (Diversity, Alcoholwise, Consent & Respect, Kognito) will take an additional 2 ½ hours to complete.
• Students should complete the modules and required trainings prior to January 30th, as all the information provided will be critical for first-semester success at SU. The modules may also continue to be accessed in MyClasses throughout the fall semester as a reference.

MyClasses

• Join us the weekend before classes start on Monday, January 30th for an in-person experience providing opportunities to connect and meet peers, learn where things are on SU’s campus, find out more about resources and expectations to support your journey and much more!

• 1/30 - First Day of Classes
• 2/3 - Regular Session Drop/Add Ends
• 3/20-3/24 - Spring Break
• 4/7 - Regular Session Last Day to Drop a Class (Grade of W)
• 5/16 - Last Day of Classes
• 5/17 - Reading Day
• 5/18-5/24 - Final Exams
