Ms. Amy Hasson

Chief of Staff

Amy HassonAmy Hasson joined the President’s Office at Salisbury University in August 2007 as Assistant to the President and was named Chief of Staff one year later. In that capacity, Ms. Hasson handles a wide variety of responsibilities. She assists the President in addressing daily operational issues and special projects and is the President’s primary speechwriter. Ms. Hasson has oversight for the Office of Institutional Equity; University Analysis, Reporting and Assessment; Athletics; the University General Counsel; and the Deputy Chief of Staff, who also serves as Director of Government and Community Relations.

Ms. Hasson served as Chair of the Town Gown Council for a number of years and has served on a number of other campus committees, including Women’s History Month, Campus Wellness, Strategic Enrollment Planning Team and Steering Committee, Strategic Planning and Budgeting, President’s Advisory Team, Employee of the Month Committee, Safety Task Force, the Council for Student Achievement and Success, and The Women's Circle. Ms. Hasson is also a member of the Board of Directors for United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.

Prior to coming to SU, Ms. Hasson served as Assistant to the President at Notre Dame of Maryland University for four years where she had similar responsibilities. She was also Notre Dame’s liaison with the community and staff to the Board of Trustees. Ms. Hasson’s move to higher education came after a long career in Baltimore City government, where she served under four Mayors in the departments of Finance, Public Works and Planning. During her 15 years in Baltimore City Planning, Ms. Hasson advanced from Capital Budget Planner to Deputy Director of the department. Ms. Hasson also served as Project Manager for Plan:Baltimore, the city’s first comprehensive planning process in 20 years.

Ms. Hasson holds a bachelor degree in English from Towson University and a master’s degree in public administration from The Johns Hopkins University. She also attended the Women’s Program in Management at University of Baltimore.

Ms. Hasson lives in Worcester County. She and her late husband have two children, one is a proud graduate of SU and the other is a current student at the University.
