Joan Williams joined Salisbury University May 2020 and brings almost 20 years of progressive administrative experience in diversity and inclusion work across the higher education community. She is the designated executive administrator responsible for leading and developing the campus’ strategic diversity efforts and the principal advisor to the president and senior University leadership on issues of diversity and inclusion. Williams serves on the president’s cabinet and responsibilities include serving the students, faculty, staff, community, and alumni in achieving excellence through diversity and inclusion.

Prior to joining Salisbury University, Williams led University strategic diversity efforts in Alabama where she was recognized for her diversity leadership by the Alabama Association of Higher Education Diversity Officers (ALAHEDO). She is experienced in innovative and transformational diversity leadership, diversity education development and facilitation. She has national, regional and state leadership experience.
