Welcome to Instructional Design & Delivery
The Office of Instructional Design & Delivery supports the instructional design and delivery needs of faculty engaged in teaching and learning of online, hybrid, and traditional courses. To this end, professional development and support is provided for effective pedagogical practices and instructional software.
Office Hours:
- Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Additional Virtual Hours: Monday - Thursday: 4:30 - 6 p.m.
Faculty are invited to call ID&D main office at 410-677-6585, visit in-person at AC220, or schedule an in-person or virtual appointment for consultation/assistance. If you would like to meet outside of our standard office hours, please contact your Instructional Designer liaison.

USM Kirwan Center Call for Fellowships and Grants
The University System of Maryland is currently seeking nominations and proposals for the following opportunities:
- USM Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation Faculty Senior Fellows (AY 2026-2027): These leadership roles will advance the Kirwan Center's mission to support innovation in teaching, learning, and scholarship across the University System of Maryland. Each Senior Fellow will receive a $3,500 stipend for their work across AY 2026-27.The three Senior Fellow positions are:
- Senior Fellow in Generative AI Pedagogy
- Senior Fellow for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)
- Senior Fellow for Assessment & Evaluation
- Applications Due: April 13
- OER Mini-Grants through the Maryland Open Source Textbook Initiative: In support of Maryland public higher education institution's efforts to increase access, affordability and achievement through the incorporation of Open Educational Resources, a call for proposals is open for the following:
- OER use in teaching high enrollment courses: $1,000 Adopt/Adapt OER grant
- OER creation/revision and publication in high-need areas: $2,000 Create/Revise and Publish OER grant
- New! OER revision for digital accessibility: $1,500 grant
- Call for Proposals Deadline: April 17
- Elkins Professorship (FY 2027): Supports faculty projects in research, scholarship or community engagement (awards up to $40,000)
- Elkins Professorship for Academic Transformation: Supports projects using generative AI to support projects that can foster or illuminate improvements in access, affordability, quality of outcomes, and/or stewardship of people’s time, money, and other scarce resources (three awards up to $10,000 each).
- 2026-27 Elkins Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Fellows Call for Proposals: Up to 10 Elkins SoTL Fellowships of $1,000 each will be awarded competitively to faculty members in the University System of Maryland (USM). These fellowships will support scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), defined as the systematic investigation of student learning, instruction, and/or teaching innovations and the dissemination of findings so as to contribute to a broader knowledge community.

- Call for Proposals Deadline: May 8
