SALISBURY, MD---The Nature Generation, an environmental nonprofit, recently honored Salisbury University with a Sustainable Partner Award for “dedication and support in inspiring youth to care for the planet.”

Based in Arlington, VA, the Nature Generation empowers youth to make a difference, reaching them via environmental stewardship initiatives in literature, science and the arts. Sustainable Partner organizations help make such programs and education accessible to youth across the U.S.

For nine years, SU hosted ceremonies for the Nature Generation’s Green Earth Book Award, the nation’s first award for environmental stewardship in children’s and young adult literature. In 2014, Dr. Teena Ruark Gorrow of SU’s Teacher Education Department and co-author Craig Koppie won the award for nonfiction for Inside a Bald Eagle’s Nest.
