Tanzania Native Discusses African Experience of Environment April 27

SALISBURY, MD---Yared Fubusa, a native of Tanzania, Africa and a student at Longwood College, VA, gives a presentation at Salisbury State University on Thursday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Caruthers Hall Auditorium.

Fubusa comes from a small village in the remote part of Tanzania, East Africa, close to Lake Tanganyika and the Gombe Stream Research Center, where Dr. Jane Goodall has been studying and protecting chimpanzees for 40 years. In 1993 he became the youngest assistant researcher ever employed at Gombe. Fubusa was an original member of "Roots & Shoots," Goodall's international environmental and humanitarian program begun in Tanzania that encourages young people to take action in their world. He was recently honored by Disney as an "International Ambassador" and continues to give lectures and presentations on behalf of the Jane Goodall Institute.

In his presentation, Fubusa will give his perspective of the African experience of the environment, the problems facing Africa economically and environmentally, and what can be done to help protect some of the world's greatest natural resources.
