Student Urges Congress to Protect Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

SALISBURY, MD---Sarah Mann, a junior at Salisbury State University, has just returned from a week in Washington, D.C. where she met with members of Congress to urge protection of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska.

Mann was urging support of legislation H.R. 1239 that would add the coastal plain to the National Wilderness Preservation System. Doing so would prevent oil development there. With 165 cosponsors in the House and 24 in the Senate, this legislation currently has more support than any other wilderness bill in Congress.

Mann was born and raised in Pottstown, PA. She graduated from Perkiomen High School in 1966 and currently attends Salisbury State where she has participated in Varsity Field Hockey and the Environmental Students Association.
