Spoken Word Artist Jessica Care More Performs October 13

SALISBURY, MD---Spoken word artist Jessica Care Moore performs 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. Poet, actor and singer, Care Moore is a performer known throughout the world. She has performed with musical legends George Clinton, Mos Def and Ossie Davis. Her music is a blend of hip-hop, funk, rock and soul. She frequently appears on the HBO series Russel Simmons Presents: Def Poetry Jam and was featured on NBC’s Today. Her poetry has been published in anthologies and periodicals and she also wrote the books: The Alphabet Verses the Ghetto and the poetry collection Words Don’t Fit in My Mouth. Care Moore also is an activist in the fight against AIDS, both lecturing and participating in the National AIDS Walk. She founded the publishing company Moore Black Press, and is working on Literacy Through Hip-Hop Campaign to teach children to read. The event is sponsored by the Union of African American Students.
