Silent Auction, Diamond Raffle Highlight Savor the Sympnony

SALISBURY, MD---Wine at the Biltmore? A week at Smith Mountain Lake, VA? These and other items—as well as a $1,200 diamond necklace donated by Kuhn’s Jewelers—could be yours as the Salisbury University Foundation hosts a silent auction and raffle in connection with its “Savor the Symphony” fundraiser to benefit the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra (SSO) 5:30 p.m. Saturday, February 19, in the Social Room and Great Hall of Holloway Hall. The Bank of Delmarva sponsors the event. The necklace will be raffled during the event. Auction items include command performances of the SSO’s wind and string quartets at the event of the winner’s choice, a sunset dinner on the Wicomico River, artwork from painter Myrna McGrath, a cigar assortment from Senor Cigar in Ocean City, MD, and dinner with SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach, as well as a Biltmore wine retreat and Smith Mountain Lake vacation. The $100-a-plate dinner also features discussions with guest SSO conductor Clyde Mitchell, founding member of the Sinfonia of the North Shore in Vancouver, Canada, and guest soloist Sarah Jackson of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Members from the SSO’s inaugural year in 1986 also share stories and memories of the group from the past 19 years. Seating is limited to 136.
