SALISBURY, MD---In early 2015, Winter Wonderland of Lights organizer Chris Eccleston, of Delmarva Veteran Builders, approached Salisbury University about the possibility of including Sammy the Sea Gull among the lighted displays during the annual holiday event at City Park.

His vision included having all local mascots represented in the display. SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach approved and the funding of the Sea Gull display was provided by private funds.

“I am pleased that Salisbury University’s Sammy the Sea Gull will be part of the Winter Wonderland of Lights, one of our city’s most treasured holiday traditions,” she said. “SU is a vital part of the fabric of our community, so it seems right that Sammy have a place in this sparkling park display, where he can be seen by families and children of all ages. His presence and the entire wonderland are glowing reminders that our community has much to celebrate.”
