Salisbury Youth Orchestra Performs May 3

SALISBURY, MD---Performing two pieces by Tchaikovsky among other works, the Salisbury Youth Orchestra hosts its annual spring concert 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Salisbury University’s Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Affiliated with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra since 1989, the Youth Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen, assistant professor of music at SU. It features some 40 student musicians from throughout the Eastern Shore, ranging in age from 9-10 year olds to college-age students.

Works slated to be performed include Tchaikovsky’s Triumphant March and Capriccio Italien, as well as Mozart’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro. The orchestra also plays a polka and the West Indies folk song Matilda.
