Salisbury University Closes For Hurricane Isabel

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University will close at midnight Wednesday, September 17, and remain closed through midnight Friday, September 19. Essential personnel will report to work. 

Students are advised that the following offices and services will remain open: 

Residence Life;

University Dining (because of sandbagging, entrance to the Commons for people with disabilities will be through the Guerrieri University Center);

Guerrieri University Center;

Maggs Physical Activities Center (under normal hours unless it becomes an emergency shelter for students, staff and faculty and their families.  Pets are not allowed, however the Salvation Army Center is accepting pets);

Blackwell Library (hours 10 a.m.-4 p.m.); and  

Fulton Hall Computer Labs (IT will also make every effort to maintain e-mail and Internet services through the storm period). 

All services, facilities operations and hours are subject to safe weather conditions. The student Saferide service will not be available Thursday-Saturday.

For those traveling, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel at Cape Charles, VA, will close to passenger cars when wind speeds exceed 68 mph. The Bay Bridge in Maryland will close to passenger cars when wind speeds exceed 50 mph.
