SU Students Perform at Carnegie Hall Monday, March 7"

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, of course. That’s just what 14 Salisbury University students have been doing for the past five months in preparation for a performance at the fabled symbol of music excellence in New York 8 p.m. Monday, March 7.

class=""MsoNormal"">They will not be alone. The students, members of the Salisbury University Chorale, Chamber Choir and Salisbury Chorale, join three other universities from North Carolina and Mississippi for an Americana performance with the New York City Chamber Orchestra and Festival Chorus. Dr. William P. Carroll of the University of North Carolina Greensboro and Dr. Wellborn Young conduct the chorus’ performance of Song of Democracy by Howard Hanson and Frostiana by Randall Thompson.

class=""MsoNormal"">Dr. William Folger, director of choral activities and vocal division chair at SU, has trained the Salisbury group locally and will join the students in their performance. The students were invited because of Folger’s reputation as a choir director. Rehearsals in New York begin Saturday, March 5.

class=""MsoNormal"">Tickets range from $30-$60. To purchase tickets call 212-247-7800 or visit the Carnegie Hall Web site at
