SU Offers Satellite Social Work Programs at Cecil Community, Chesapeake College

SALISBURY, MD---Starting spring semester 2007, Salisbury University offers its Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Master of Social Work programs at satellite sites located at Cecil Community College in Elkton, MD, and the Eastern Shore Higher Education Center at Chesapeake College in Wye Mills, MD.

Courses in the satellite programs are “blended,” meaning they use the latest technology, including face-to-face, fully interactive live video and online instruction from SU’s full-time faculty. This unique program allows students to complete all components of the degree in their local communities, from course registration to advising and field placements.

The part-time programs are designed with the working student in mind with courses scheduled in the evening and during the summer term. The academic load is six to nine credits per semester. Since some of the class work is completed online, time in the actual classroom is reduced.

The BASW program is for students who have an associate’s degree or 60 credits toward a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA from an accredited college or university. If a student has a recent bachelor’s degree in social work, he or she may be eligible for the advanced standing program beginning summer 2008.

All of SU’s undergraduate and graduate social work programs are fully accredited by the Council of Social Work Education, a must for earning licensure. For additional information about the satellite program, contact the SU Social Work Department at 410-677-5363 or e-mail socialwork@salisbury.edu.
