SU Hosts Pennsylvania Geographical Society Meeting October 27-28

SALISBURY, MD---Geography and geographical education takes center stage at Salisbury University Friday-Saturday, October 27-28, as the Pennsylvania Geographical Society (PGS) hosts its annual meeting at the Maryland campus.

This year’s main theme is K-12 geographical education. Sessions and workshops are open to the public with registration to the meeting.

Topical papers in geography are presented both days. Mike Seidel, Weather Channel meteorologist and SU alumnus, is the Friday luncheon guest speaker. The Friday night banquet features 2006 PGS Distinguished Geographer award winner Cort Wilmont from the University of Delaware, who speaks on "Estimating Climate and Climatic Change from Lousy Weather Station Networks: Two Air-Temperature Examples."

A Saturday afternoon field trip titled "Physical and Cultural Geography of the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland" gives participants a chance to explore the region. Registration for the luncheon, banquet and field trip must be made by Friday, October 20.
