SU Hosts 'Harlem on Broadway' Wednesday, March 13

Harlem NYSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s NAACP chapter presents Harlem on Broadway 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.

The performance was postponed from its originally scheduled engagement in February.

The play tells the story of the Harlem Renaissance, a cultural and intellectual movement in the 1920s and ’30s centered in Harlem, NY, but affecting areas worldwide. The movement included literature, drama, music, visual art and dance, as well as sociology, historiography and philosophy.

The production is set in an upscale 1930s Harlem club, demonstrating how the Harlem Renaissance thrived during segregation. After dark, when the music and other arts were performed for the enjoyment of all, color barriers seldom seemed to matter.

Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-548-4503 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
