SU Foundation Names New Members
These include Charles Emery of North East, MD; Richard Givens II of Dover, DE; Edward “Sonnye” Henry, Jr. and Marilyn “Lyn” Seidel of Salisbury, Wayne Judkins of Easton, MD; Ronald Moore of Rehoboth, DE; and John Moseman of Clarksville, MD.
Emery is the president and owner of Cable Testing Service, Inc., in Newark, DE. He has been a consultant for the Dupont Co.’s Engineering Department and lectured at the University of Delaware from 1976-1998. A graduate of the University of Delaware, he earned a Master of Science in electrical power engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
Givens, a dual-degree graduate of SU, is the assistant state treasurer of the State of Delaware and a former administrative officer in the state’s Office of the Insurance Commissioner. He received the 1996 Delaware State Treasurer’s Merit Award for designing a payroll reconciliation system for the state’s deferred compensation program. Givens serves as organist and choirmaster of Christ Episcopal Church in Dover.
Henry worked more than 30 years for the Dupont Co. in Seaford, DE, before retiring. A native of Salisbury, he is the director of the Organize, Unite and Revitalize (OUR) Community program. He is a member of the Shore Bank board of trustees and volunteers with several organizations, including the Rotary Club of Salisbury. He and his wife Doretha are members of Wesley Temple in Salisbury.
Seidel is a graduate of the Peninsula General Hospital School of Nursing and a retired operating room nurse. She and her husband, Sam, gave $1 million to endow the Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies at SU in 1997, at that time only the second named, endowed school of education in the country. All three of the Seidels’ children are SU graduates.
Judkins, a senior trader with Caxton, Inc., in New York City, is a 1989 honors graduate of Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business. He and his wife, Melissa (also a 1989 SU alumna), created the Judkins Family Investment Program at Salisbury University, which provides real-world experiences for Perdue School finance students, as well as annual scholarships to worthy SU students.
Moore, chairman and CEO of J.A. Moore & Sons, Inc., and J.A. Moore Construction, Inc., in Sussex County, DE, is past chairman of the board of Delaware National Bank. Due to Moore’s knowledge of the real estate and development professions, he also serves SU as a member of its newly created Salisbury University Real Estate Foundation, Inc.
Moseman, regional director of operations for United Healthcare in Bethesda, MD, is a 1982 SU graduate. He did post-graduate work at Georgetown University in its executive management program. He chaired Salisbury’s Alumni Fund Campaign in 2000-2001.
