SU Foundation Board Welcomes New Members

SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Foundation, Inc. has welcomed five new members to its board of directors: Laura Baker, Stephen Farrow, Edward Henry, Susan Purnell and Ashley Stern all of Salisbury.

Laura BakerBaker earned a B.S. in business administration from SU in 1979. She has worked for Draper Holdings in Salisbury for more than 25 years and is currently vice president and chief operating officer. Her daughter, Kelsey Fields, also is an SU graduate.

Stephen FarrowFarrow is president and CEO of Piedmont Airlines, Inc., a subsidiary of U.S. Airways/American Airlines. He is the nephew of SU benefactor Richard A. Henson, who founded Pidemont in the 1930s as Henson Flying Service. Farrow also is a supporter of SU’s tennis programs and facilities.

Edward HenryHenry previously served on the Foundation board from 2003-11, chairing the Grants and Audit committees. He is a retired human resources executive from DuPont in Seaford.

Susan PurnellPurnell is following in the footsteps of her father, Jack Purnell, an early Foundation board member who served for two decades. She is the host of SU On The Air, a monthly PAC 14 show. She also owns Kuhn’s Jewelers in downtown Salisbury. 

Ashley SternStern, an SU alumna, earned a B.S. in accounting in 2008 and an M.B.A. in 2009. A former SU softball player, she remains a supporter of SU Athletics. A licensed C.P.A., she currently is a senior accountant at PKS & Company, P.A., in Salisbury.   

Guided by a 31-member board, the SU Foundation was created in 1973 to accumulate funds by gift and investment to enhance the University. Since then, it has enriched the academic growth and physical expansion of SU through the support of student scholarships, faculty research, new facilities and community outreach.
