SU Film Festival Set May 2

SU Film FestivalSALISBURY, MD---Short films from around the world are showcased during the second annual Salisbury University Film Festival on Saturday, May 2.

Screenings are 1-5:30 p.m. in Fulton Hall Room 111. Selected films include:

•    Playthings by Brian Boenau and Bryan Loy (U.S.) – A young man who befriended the monster in his closet as a child now fears the relationship is encroaching on his personal life — and possibly his sanity.

•    Dear Friends by Paulina Dana (Argentina) – A seemingly aimless afternoon shared by six teenage friends in a cemetery turns out to have a poignant point.

•    Elegy by Yousef Kargar (Iran) – This film tells the story of an elderly man, his expectations and his hopes.

•    Will I Scatter Away by Emma Penaz Eisner (U.S.) – Danger threatens a man hoping to find himself in a dreamlike landscape in this surrealistic thriller.

•    Junk Girl by Mohammad Zare and Shalale Kheiri (Iran) – A love story emerges between a garbage man and a girl who — figuratively and possibly literally — is made of junk.

•    Michael by Avi Yagil (Israel) – Human nature, internal drives, morality and violence issues take center stage during this story of a boy who kills his family’s dog.

•    Keep it Clean by Matthew Rivera and Evan Sennett (U.S.) – A clean freak faces his utmost fears when a slovenly salesman dies in his apartment during this homage to early silent comedies.

SU communication arts alumnus Jake Swinney, whose films were featured during the inaugural festival in 2014, also will be on hand to discuss his production of online video essays. Some have gone viral, with at least one topping 1 million views.

Admission is free and the public is invited. Concessions and T-shirts will be available for purchase. SU student film analysis papers also will be available for reading. Festival co-directors are SU students Zach Wheeler and Taylor Rogers.
