SU Continues to Monitor Hurricane Matthew

Salisbury, MD---Salisbury University officials are closely monitoring weather forecasts.  Currently, all University events scheduled for this weekend, including the Sea Gull Century bike ride on Saturday, are set to continue as planned.

Century participants should be aware that some route modifications have been made due to flooding issues related to last week’s heavy rains. In some areas of the Shore, there is pre-existing damage to roadways and contaminated water. Riders should be off the roads well before dark, especially in the case of additional rain. Travelers are urged to continue watching changing weather patterns and to drive carefully. Please check the Sea Gull Century Facebook page or the Century website for current information about routes: www.seagullcentury.org

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the area through next Tuesday, with Hurricane Matthew moving off the South Carolina coast Saturday into Saturday night. This region still may see some heavy rainfall, gusty winds, large waves and dangerous surf. The hurricane’s exact track will dictate rain, wind, road conditions and coastal flooding threats, so please monitor forecasts.

Members of the campus community and visitors should check the SU website and the SU Facebook and Twitter pages for updates.
