'Retail Smart Start' Seminar Teaches Basics of Business

SALISBURY, MD---The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Salisbury University offers advice for those just starting in the retail business, as well as seasoned professionals, during its “Retail Smart Start” course 1:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, in the Frederick Room of the Commons. Presenter Casey Willson, a 30-year veteran of retailing, education and business in the Washington, D.C., area, offers information on retail positioning, location and traffic access, inventory management, mark-up and profit calculations, vendor and employee relations, general and promotional marketing, and customer service in a retail environment. The course does not cover generic issues of starting a business such as legal entity, licensing, tax registration and setting up books, which are topics covered through the SBDC’s monthly “Smart Start Your Business” course.
