'Pretty Village, Pretty Flame' Showing October 20

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University presents Srdjan Dragojevic’s 1996 Yugoslavian film Pretty Village, Pretty Flame 7 p.m. Monday, October 20 in Henson Science Hall Room 243 as part of SU’s fall International Film Series.

The film is based on an actual event involving two childhood friends, one Serbian, the other Muslim. As adults, the friends are on opposing sides in a civil war. The 125-minute film features Serbo-Croatian dialogue with English subtitles.

“When viewers see Pretty Village, Pretty Flame, I hope they’ll come away with some kind of understanding of the horrible conditions people had to live through in Yugoslavia,” said Dr. James Welsh, co-founder of the SU journal Literature/Film Quarterly.

Admission is free and the public is cordially invited. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
